Question: What is an alias and how does it work?
Answer: An alias is an address that is linked to your own email
account. Incoming messages will be routed
onto you from our mail server. Out going messages will go direct to the
recipient. The main benefit is when
your service provider changes you only need to notify us once, not all
your existing contacts.
Question: How much does it cost?
Answer: The service is free of charge.
Question: Is it possible to spoof my out going message so it appears
to be coming from my alias address?
Answer: Depending on your mail client you may be able to change
the 'reply to' field to your alias address.
Note: Outlook and Outlook Express both have this option.
Question: What does my alias address have at the end?
Answer: Your address should end with @rfl.org
Question: Do messages take longer to arrive using the alias address?
Answer: Yes, but in normal usage it is a matter of seconds.
Question: Can I use the service 24 hours a day?
Answer: With the exception of hardware faults the system is operational
all day every day.
Question: Why isn't the alias system set-up and change of address
automatic?
Answer: Firstly, we check that the applicant is abiding by our terms
& conditions. Secondly, if a typing error is
made when changing an address we will contact the member by email to clarify
the change.
Question: Will my email address be passed on to a 3rd party?
Answer: No, however we will keep a record on our database.
